When I heard a Stonegrill restaurant was opening in Ashburton I was ecstatic! My wife, son & I first experienced Stonegrill in Auckland about 6 years ago and we were instantly hooked by the unique style of cooking your own meal. We have since frequented Stonegrill franchises in Hanmer Springs, Christchurch and Rolleston numerous times, as well as discovering it recently in Tekapo. Since the opening of Stonegrill in Ashburton we have been twice and are booked in again this weekend with our extended family for our sons 12th birthday. I have tried all the different meats and have found them to be great cuts with very little fat and no gristle at all. And with being able to cook it myself I have no excuses if it is overcooked! I am still astounded at how the meat doesn’t cook through as it sits on the stone waiting to be sliced & cooked, and the really great part is every slice of meat is as hot as the first – all the way through your meal. The side dishes served up by the friendly staff at the Bedrock Stonegrill are also very delicious from the well mashed garlic potatoes (nothing worse than lumpy spuds) to the crispy fries and salads. I won’t go into too much detail about the mouth watering Strawberry Cheesecake, apart from saying you must try it! I’m already looking forward to Friday – thanks Stonegrill.
